The Chinese Yuan "Panda" was first issued in 1982, and it is legal tender. The obverse side of the coin depicts a panda which is altered each year. The reverse of the coin is pictured with the Temple of Heaven and its location is in Peking. The purity of the coin is 24 Karat, and the fineness is 999. The edge of the coin is reeded. The Pandas are minted at Shanghai and Shengyang. The mint mark did not appear on the reverse of the coin until 1987.
